Paediatric Blended Learning Syllabus

Paediatric Blended Learning Course (requires 6 hrs pre-learning)

It remains a legal requirement for at least one person with a valid full 12-hour paediatric first aid certificate to be available at all times within a professional child care establishment. EMT First Aid Training offers this 12-hour course either as a two day course (see 2 day paediatric course details) or as a convenient intensive blended learning option; 6 hours online pre-learning, followed by 6 hours in the classroom on this one day intensive course. 

This course meets the requirements laid down by Ofsted, and EYFS.  It will be of particular interest to teachers, childminders, nursery workers , crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and anyone else who has a responsibility for their welfare whilst in your care.
This course can be taught as a  Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF)
Duration: This course covers at least 6 hours of practical training and is usually run over 1 day. The candidate will also be expected to access the online materials. 

Prices depend on the certificate option, either a standard certificate of a RQF certificate. The training is always the same regardless of the certificate you choose. Both certificate options include a First Aid training pack.

• First Aid kits and accident reporting
• Recovery Position
• Drowning
• Choking
• Bleeding and shock
• Anaphylaxis
• Bone, muscle and joint injuries
• Head, Neck and Back Injuries
• Poisoning
• Foreign Bodies in Eyes, Ears and Noses
• Electric shock
• Burns and Scalds
• Eye Injuries
• Bites and Stings
• Effects of Extreme Heat and Cold
• Febrile Convulsions
• Emergency Needs of Children with Chronic Medical Conditions: Epilepsy, Asthma, Sickle Cell Anaemia and Diabetes
• Meningitis and other Serious Sudden Illnesses

Continuous assessment by trainer, practical assessments to cover wound management, care of an unconscious casualty, CPR and a multiple choice paper (if you have chosen the RQF externally assessed certificate)

Upon completion of this course, students will receive a standard First Aid Training Certificate or a RQF certificate valid for 3 years. 

In order to retain their First Aid qualification, students will need to attend another 12 hour course and receive certification for a further 3 years.

The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders complete an annual refresher course to keep their skills up to date and in line with any changes in First Aid procedures.
